CBD (Cannabidiol)
CBD is one of over 60 medicinal compounds found in the cannabis plant. Cannabis is usually known for it’s psychedelic effects due to the cannabinoid THC. By selecting strains of the cannabis plant that are very low in THC (less than 0.3% by law) it is possible to provide a high CBD product with immense health benefits that does not get you high or impair your performance or judgement. Many studies have been done on CBD and it’s health benefits are well documented.
What Are The Main Properties of CBD?
CBD is claimed to have the following properties:
- Anti-inflammatory – helps reduce inflammation and swelling, good for symptoms of arthritis, Chrone’s Disease and IBS, neuro inflammation and traumatic brain injury.
- Anti-seizure – helps reduce the seizures associated with Epilepsy, Parkinson’s Disease and Dravet Syndrome.
- Anxiolytic – reduces anxiety and as a result can help alleviate symptoms of depression, insomnia, panic attacks, social anxiety disorder and PTSD.
- Analgesic/pain relief – CBD has been show to be very effective for pain relief.
- Anti-spasmodic – helps reduce spams associated with Multiple Sclerosis, menstruation and spinal injury.
- Antioxidant – good for reducing the effects of free radicals throughout the body, helping to slow down the ageing process and helps protect against cognitive degeneration from oxidative stress.
- Antiemetic – reduces nausea and vomiting, particularly useful with chemotherapy patients.
- Antipsychotic – CBD has shown promise as a treatment for psychosis and Schizophrenia and, ironically, is effective at reducing the paranoia and negative effects associated with some use of THC.
- Anti-tumour – CBD has been shown to interfere with the cell reproduction of tumours.
- Increases bone density and helps with healing of fractures and Osteoporosis.
- Lowers incidents of diabetes
- Improves cardiovascular health
- Helps with neurological disorders
Cannabidiol has been claimed to help with many more disorders, a comprehensive list can be found on our blog. Research is ongoing, currently most of the research has been in vivo but human studies are forthcoming and new benefits are being found all the time. When combined with other cannabinoids, as a full spectrum product, the effect of CBD and or THC is exponentially increases. All SatyaCBD products use a locally grown, organic, full spectrum hemp extract high in minor cannabinoids.
How To Take Cannabidiol
For oral administration it is recommended that the oil be swished around the gums and teeth and held under the tongue for at least 60 seconds, preferably more, before swallowing. This provides around 40-50% absorption whereas swallowing immediately gives less than approximately 6% absorption. It can also be used topically for aching joints and skin conditions although transdermal absorption into the blood stream is not as effective as oral administration or inhalation.
Our product is priced as low as possible so that those who need it can afford it. Many sellers online will confuse the consumer with pop science articles and advertising gimmicks to explain why theirs is the best CBD available and worth the high price. Satya CBD provides 500mg of full spectrum CBD extract in 30ml of MCT/LCT oil in a blue glass dropper bottle. One squirt is roughly 13mg and there are roughly 45 servings per bottle. This is just a guide, you can experiment and adjust the dosage to suit your needs.
How Is CBD Extracted From The Plant?
There are several different ways to extract CBD from the plant and each method gives a slightly different end product. The Entourage Effect is the belief that each of the other 483 known compounds adds to the overall effect of the extract and increases the power of the CBD rather than just using isolated CBD alone. This is similar to how whole herbs are more powerful and effective than a single extracted compound from the plant. Each extraction process has it’s pros and cons.
Carbon dioxide (Co2) extraction – very expensive and requires special equipment but gives a good clean product, free of chlorophyll, strips out more terpenes unless both critical and sub-critical C02 extractions are combined.
Ethanol extraction – preserves more of the terpenes (other medicinal compounds) and can give a cleaner product but destroys the waxes.
Butane extraction – very dangerous if not done correctly, possibility of toxins remaining in the extract unless done by someone very skilled, good for vapable extracts and inhalation.
Oil extraction – the flowers and leaves are dried and powdered and heated gently in oil to absorb all the compounds of the dried plant, gives the most full spectrum extract and is easy for anyone to do but potency is much lower and many compounds may be extracted that aren’t wanted.
